BURNS FATAL TO GRIFFIN CHILD; RITES HELD HERE:
Funeral services were held Thursday morning for Helen Marie Griffin, 8 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph J. Griffin, who died Tuesday night in a local hospital of burns received early that day.
Funeral rites were conducted by the Rev. Howard Stark at Friendship church, and burial was in the church cemetery.
The child was fatally burned when she attempted to start a fire beneath a washpot in the yard of her parents home according to reports, a can of kerosene exploded when she threw kerosene on the fire, and her clothing became enveloped in flames.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Adolph, Jr., and Bobby Griffin, three sisters, Martha Louise, Mary Loretta, and Patricia Ann Griffin all of Milledgeville, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Durden of Hancock County.
