Daniel Boone of Route 3, Bakersville, from the Rebels Creek community, died March 12 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was in a one car accident on Arbuckle Road in Yancey County when his jeep apparently skidded on an ice-covered road and plunged off an embankment. He was thrown from his 1970 Jeep when the vehicle left the road approximately three-tenths of a mile south of N C Highway 80, traveled down the embankment 33 feet, rolled over for another 17 feet, and struck a tree, according to Trooper Charlie Franlin, investigating officer. Franklin's report indicated the road was icy. The accident occorred at approximately 6:30 a. m.,on a Saturday morning.

Boone was superintendent of Feldspar Corp. at Spruce Pine.
He was a son of the late Milton and Minnie Murphy Boone.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Lou Robinson Boone; two
daughters, LuAnn Liner of Lake Junaluska and Susan Boone of the home; two sons, Greg and Michael Boone of Spruce Pine,nine sisters, Mrs. John Morgan, and Mrs. Melvin Dellinger of Spruce Pine, Mrs. Dan Jarrett of Bakersville, Mrs. Arthur McKinney of Morganton, Mrs.Gene Dale and Mrs. William Bell of Marion; Mrs. Roger Wilson of Mocksville, Mrs. Larry Phillips of Cary and Mrs. Neil McKinney of Hickory; a brother, Paul Boone of Bakersville; and
four grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. March 14 in Rebe1s Creek Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Revs. Tyler Leroy, R. M. Cassity and Vernon Buchanan officiated. Burial was in the Rebels Creek Church Cemetery.
