Musician. In a six-decade career, he was a leading percussionist highly sought after by an array of A-list jazz and pop music figures. He worked with performers to include, Stan Getz, Eartha Kitt, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Roberta Flack, Lou Rawls, Chick Corea, Pat Matheny, Chuck Mangione and Nina Simone. In 1957, he played at the Newport Jazz Festival with Dizzy Gillespie's band and Mongo Santamaria. He was part of Joni Mitchell's 1979 tour that produced the live album "Shadows and Light." With Miles Davis, he was on the trumpeter's Grammy "Bitches Brew" and the "On The Corner" recordings. In the 1980's, he was a regular on the David Sanborn TV show and world tours. He also formed two bands, Stone Alliance, an electric fusion ensemble, and Kebekwa, a percussion group.
