Rexine is the second of four daughters born to Rex and Berniece (Davis) Copp. She lived most of her life in Kansas City, Kansas, living briefly in St. Louis, Missouri while studying Art.
She worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant during World War II. She lied about her age so she could drive a truck for them.
Rexine married and has four children: Rex, Sharyn, Robert and Richard (identical twins). She divorced in 1959.
She became disabled in the early 1970s from a workplace injury.
Rexine was active in her church and found great pleasure in helping others.
She moved into a nursing home in 2000 for health reasons. In 2004 she went to live with her daughter where she died three weeks later with family around her.
We miss you Mom.
Rexine was preceeded in death by her parents, one sister, Catherine Curran, two grandchildren, Shaleen and Matthew Sanchez and one great grandchild, Johnathan Sanchez (our Johnny Boy).

Rexine donated her mortal remains to the Kansas University Hospital for cellular research. Her ashes were returned to her family and the majority buried October 6, 2006 at Chapel Hill in a private service presided over by Reverend Lynn Lamberty.
Her daughter took some of her ashes and scattered them over the water in the Gravois Arm at Lake of the Ozarks. Rexine spent many happy times at Lake of the Ozarks, worked at a few of the resorts, and lost the love of her life in a boating accident there in 1966.
Her daughter also buried some of her ashes with her father and mother at Mount Hope Cemetery per her wishes. See 21 October 2011 below.

Memories of Mom...
My Mom had a wonderful adventurous spirit. She used to scare the bejebers out of me as a child...venturing into dark woods because she saw a mysterious light.
When I was very young, Mom let me bake in her kitchen, what a mess I made.
We were going to have a "night out" once. Getting all gussied up and going to Starlight with a friend of Mom's. I fell asleep before the show ever started.
We spent many, many happy hours at Winwood Lake in the summer, then later at Sunny Shores (where I almost drowned).
Once, my two children and I were riding in the car with Mom, she saw a black cat cross the street in front of us and almost gave me whiplash slamming on the brakes. She proceeded to back up about two blocks on a one way street so she wouldn't cross it's path.
21 October 2011, I added some sand to the little bit of ashes I had left of Mom and let the container wash into the ocean at Waimea Bay, North Shore, O'ahu, Hawai'i. A hui hou kakou. (Until we meet again.)
