Edith Louise Prather Austin went to meet her Lord and Savior on April 29,2014 in Springer, New Mexico. She was born in Delhi, Oklahoma on March 27,1923 to James H. and Sarah Lowrance Prather.

She attended and graduated from Hext High School and attended Southwestern State College until WWII began. She met and married a family friend Curtis C. Austin, a barber in Sayre, on April 23,1943. She gained his two sons Curtis George Austin and Dale Austin with their marriage and later she and Curtis had two children Lonnie and Sherry.

She worked for the Jone's Abstract Company for many years and after Curtis died in 1975, she became an independent "land man" for Buell Neece, traveling all over Oklahoma and Texas. She retired in 1994 and moved to Roy, N.M. to be close to her daughter and family. She was active in several women's clubs, quilting clubs, and was active in the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond, Rufus, Melville and a sister Wilma, and a infant son Lonnie.

She is leaving behind her beloved family; daughter Sherry and husband Louis Lujan of Roy, New Mexico, Curtis G. Austin and wife Norma of Erick, Oklahoma, Dale Austin and wife Billie of Eugene, Oregon and grandchildren, Curtis L Austin, Dennis Austin, Rusty Austin, Lyn Smith, Stephen Austin, Stephanie Hamm, and Shonna YBarra. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law Merlene Bramlett of Oklahoma City. She was blessed with many great grand children, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, May 3 at the First Christian Church at 10:00 AM with burial at the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Pail Bearers will be Curtis L Austin, Dennis Austin, Rusty Austin, Stephen Austin, Rod Smith, Christopher YBarra, Bo YBarra and Avry YBarra.
