Marriage May 28, 1816 to Elizabeth Sheets in Augusta County, Virginia. Had the following children:

*Betsey and Christian both have their complete birth dates on their headstones confirming they were twins, even though he had moved away to Missouri and they died many years apart.

Elizabeth Sheets Landes died giving birth to the twins. As soon as it was appropriate Samuel married Elizabeth "Betsey" Welch. She is no doubt the adult female on his 1830 census, and his next child after the twins was born in 1831. Examination of the various marriage documents confirms her full name. She was mentioned as mother on a couple of her step-children's records because she had been the only mother they ever remembered.
