Daughter of Samuel Philip and Lethia Addie Mae Wright. She first married Felix L. Ray in 1900, when she was just fourteen or fifteen years old. They had five children: Sam Bennie Ray, Addie Mae (Ray) King, Covie L. Ray, Clarence E. Ray, and Annie Lou Ray. Felix died in 1916.
Around 1924 or 1925 she married William Obediah Beene. Although she and Obie (as he was known) were middle-aged, they still were able to have two children together: Walter Neel Beene and Bobbie Louise (Beene) Pease.
