Diary of Arthur Allen MOORE Jr

11 OCT 1947 -- Along about 6:30 p.m. Greenlawn Memorial Park called informing us that Connie's brother, Paul and his friend Norman, had been killed instantly on his motorcycle near Grapevine on Hwy 99 south of Bakersfield. We could hardly believe it. Connie could hardly bare it so I called Rev. Anderson and they came right over. Called Auntie (Katie BRYANT BERRYMAN), Pauline (BRYANT JACKSON), Doris (BRYANT MOREY) in Arizona.

6 APR 1960 -- Connie's brother Paul was born in Bakersfield, California. Paul at age 14 joined the Merchant marines with a forged birth certificate. During the war years he sailed to ports all around the world. At age 18 he and a friend from Boston were both killed on a motorcycle coming down the Grapevine (Hwy 99) and a pedestrian they hit was also killed."
