Son of:
Edward Bishop and Fannie May Thomsen

Husband of:
Mary Elizabeth J. "Betty" Poston, married in Bay County, Florida, 1938. Source: Florida Marriage Collection, Volume 453, certificate #16966.

December 31, 1940, Bernie served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the James Reuben and the U.S.S. Lexington.

Researcher's Note:
Bernie's headstone incorrectly reads November 3, 1948 for his death date. However, the Alabama Death Records, 1908-1959, Volume 2, Roll 5, Death Certificate #20871 and also, the Alabama, Deaths and Burials Index, 1881-1974, FHL #1908823, both state his death date as November 4, 1947, therefore, his memorial page conflicts with his headstone.
