Alice Faye Shumate Hahn, daughter of Joe and Maudie Elsie Vaughn Shumate, was born August 6, 1946, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, February 12, 2006, in St. John's Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, six months, and seven days.

In July of 1968, she was united in marriage to Larry Hahn, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and Russell Wayne Shumate; two sisters, Irene Morgan, and Virginia Adkins; and a step-sister, Doris Shumate.

Alice is survived by a daughter, Karen Shockley, and her husband, Mark, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Kevin Hahn, and his wife, Rebecca, and Michael Hahn, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Brittani, Brailey, Alisha, Brianne, Kristin, and Aaron Shockley, Alex Hahn, and Amber Hahn; four brothers, Fred Shumate, and his wife, Edna, of Abbyville, Kansas, Joe Bill Shumate, and his wife, Pat, Billy Shumate, and John Shumate, and his wife, Nondis, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Kathryn Wimberly, and her husband, Raymond, and Ivah Stewart, and her husband, Ernie, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a step-brother, Buddy Terry, of Lebanon, Missouri; two step-sisters, Bonnie Kline, of the State of Oregon, and Patsy Brown, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born and raised in the Lebanon community. She lived most of her adult life in the Lebanon, Missouri area except for the time that she worked in the missionary school in Wisconsin and Virginia. Throughout the years, she was a devoted homemaker to her family and also worked for the H. D. Lee Company for fourteen years.

Alice made her profession of faith in Christ and was baptized in January of 1971 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended as long as her health allowed. She also had attended the Ozark Hills Freewill Baptist Church.

She enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activities were camping and going for drives in the country. She also liked doing puzzles in her spare time. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006, in the Dotson Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
