Christopher Thomas Finlayson was an engineer and inventor. As a young man, he moved to Colorado to work in the mines. By the age of 32 he was an engineer and filed his first patent, for a tramway loading system in 1890. MINING magazine called The Finlayson Tram "the mechanical triumph of the year.” (1897) He applied for at least four more tramway patents and travelled North America supervising installations. He may have met his wife Annabel while working at a mine in Nova Scotia. At his untimely death due to pneumonia (perhaps from lung complications of his work in mines), he left Annabel with six young children.
