Obituary
Penland--Henrietta J. Garretson, daughter of James W. and Polly Ann Garretson, was born March 3, 1850. Was married to Hiram Penland, Oct. 25, 1868. Joined the Christian church soon after marriage, and was a member until death, which occurred June 25,? 1894, at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 22 days. To their union were born seven children, one son and six daughters. One daughter preceded her to the spirit world. She was a kind and good mother. A husband, six children, two grand children, father, one brother and one sister are left to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the house, Tuesday at 1 o'clock, conducted by Elder George Hubbartt, and interment was in the Purviance cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.
