SILAS H. STONE, a prominent farmer in the northern part of this township, and a native of Lincoln County, Ky., was born in the year 1821. After passing through the usual round of life for a farmer boy, he came to this county in 1851. Prior to this time, or August 31,1845 he was wedded to Emily Carruthers, a lady born April 22, 1824. The children of this marriage are Anna, Barton W., Sarah C , Francis A., Leona A., Emma J. and Oliver H. Mr. Stone owns a good farm of 242 acres of land and is a member of the Disciple Church. He and his family enjoy the respect of good society in general. Gabriel Carruthers. the father of Mrs. Stone, was born in Kentucky, June 5, 1789, and married Rebecca Barry, born in Vir­ginia, in 1794. This couple lived to enjoy a ripe old age.
