O.C. Carroll Rites Set For Tuesday

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Ballard Chapel for Othello C. Carroll, 68, 2319 N. Garden Ave., who died Saturday of an apparent heart attack while driving to Portales.

A son of Steven and Martha Jane Marley Carroll, who are now deceased, Mr. Carroll was born Aug. 18, 1897, in Jacksboro, Tex. He worked on ranches in the Elida-Kenna area for 50 years after moving to New Mexico in 1914. Eight years ago he moved to Roswell, where he was semi-retired.

Mr. Carroll and his wife, Lorena, of the home, were married Dec. 1, 1926, in Floydada, Tex. Mrs. Carroll is the former Lorena Hollyman.

Officiating at the services Tuesday will be W.L. Shuttlesworth, of Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Jo Tyner will furnish special music.

Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife: three daughters, Mrs. Onera McCrary and Mrs. Mary Stewart of Hobbs, Miss Margaret Carroll of Roswell; five sons, Everett C., Bob O. and Ted Carroll, all of Roswell, Jim and Truitt Carroll, both of LaJunta, Colo.; a brother, Mert Carroll, Gravette, Ark., and 11 grandchildren.
