The daughter of Molsie (Burton) and Marlin Hale, Joanna was raised in Hardesty and graduated from Hardesty High School in 1957. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Dewayne Bowles on Jan. 31, 1957, at her parent's home in Hardesty.
Dennis worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and Joanna raised her daughters and worked part-time as a waitress in the local cafe. In later years, Dennis' job as a supervisor in his company kept them moving but not very far. They retired in Perryton, Texas.
Joanna loved life and loved to laugh. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, two daughters, a grandson, a sister, and a brother-in-law.
Joanna has gone to be with her parents and two sisters, Georgie Larson and Gloria Joy Hale.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the Apostolic Faith Church in Guymon, with Rev. Truman Summerford, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Range Cemetery.
