"NORTH GREENBUSH -- E. William Amadon, age 82, of Morner Road, died Friday at Community Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, after a long illness. He was born in Poestenkill and had been a lifelong resident of Rensselaer County. Mr. Amadon was employed as a section leader for GAF and BASF in Rensselaer, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater and remained active with the members of the 4th Marine Division after his discharge. He was much celebrated during his tour of duty for going behind the enemy line securing enough food to feed 200 people. He was a former member of Rensselaer Council #267 KofC, former Boy Scout Master at St. Joseph's Church Hall in Rensselaer, a member of Defreestville Fire Co. and was active in the Bishops Appeal Drive. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's in Rensselaer. Husband of Florence M. Jubick Amadon of North Greenbush; father of William P. Amadon of So. Glens Falls, Richard M. Amadon of Poestenkill and Stephen J. Amadon of North Greenbush; brother of Eleanor Weatherwax, Allen Mac Roberts and Grace Holland, all of Troy; grandfather of William P. Amadon Jr., Zoe Stevens, Justine C. Amadon, Richard M. Amadon Jr., Michael W. Amadon, Stephen J. Amadon Jr., Jason J. Amadon, Nicole Amadon and Christopher S. Amadon. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Monday morning at 9:30 and 10:30 at St. Joseph's Church, Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
