Leonard L. Allen, 77, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2006. He will be remembered as a much loved husband, father, and grandfather as well as an avid baseball fan. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953. He moved to Roanoke from St. Louis, MO in 1965 and was retired from Norfolk Southern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen & Leonard Allen; and by a brother, Donald Allen. He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter & son-in-law, Linda Murdock & Ben Williams of Blue Ridge; daughter & son-in-law, Patricia & David Guy of Charlotte, NC; son, Matthew Allen of Hardy; daughter & son-in-law, Gail & Eddy Yager of Vienna, VA. Also survived by his brother, Robert Allen of Granite City, IL; sister-in-law, Elaine Allen of Florissant, MO; sister-in-law, Jackie Wilson of St. John, MO; and brother-in-law, Mike Flowers of Hazelwood, MO; five grandchildren, Lauren and Collin Guy, Stacy Wampler, Brian Allen and Logan Yager; two great-grandchildren, Amethyst and Aiden Wampler; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Frederick P. Guy officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Lung Association. The family will receive friends Friday, February 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, Brambleton Avenue.
