Edna Deppen passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Hospice by the Sea, in Boca Raton, FL.

Edna Elwanda Deppen was born Aug. 18, 1932 in Joppa, Alabama the daughter of Howard and Vonnie Sims. She was united in marriage to Ronald L Deppen, July 27, 1957. He preceded her in death, Jan. 30, 2007. They were married for 49 wonderfully years.

Edna received her degree in Home Economics from the University of Montevallo, Montevallo, AL. Her degree enhanced her life long love of sewing. Edna was an incredibly talented seamstress and quilter. Over the years, her love of quilting took her to many wonderful locations through out the United States; she also received many accolades for her beautiful work. Edna loved to travel, having the opportunity to see many areas of Europe, as well as Alaska and Hawaii. She was a sports fan, enjoying football and NASCAR with her husband and sons. She was also a member of the Gold Coast Quilters Guild, having served as past-President and volunteering in many capacities, right up to her passing.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Denise (Mark) Loewe, Harrisburg, PA, Scott Deppen, Gainesville, FL, Randy (Cindy) Deppen, West Palm Beach, FL, and her Grandson, Kyle Loewe.

Funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday February 8, 2014 at Osceola Memory Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissmissee, FL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sea, 1531 W.Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486 or Gold Coast Quilters Guild, PO Box 2333, Boca Raton, FL 33527.
