d/o Robert and Statira 'Gregory' Batt, sis/o John W., Rodman 'Murray', Christian G. 'Chris', Eugene Hoxley 'Dock' and Delia 'Batt' Morrison.
Her father, Robert Batt, was the son of Robert and Rose Anne 'Tobin' Batt. Robert, Jr. died in 1891 of typhoid fever leaving his wife and several minor children. The Tobin family were early settlers in Perry County, Indiana. Tobin Township and Tobinsport bears their names.

Miss Veva Batt Dead
Miss Veva Batt, aged eighteen died Monday morning at Cannelton of comsumption of the bowels, after a lingering illiness. Her remains will be brought to this city this morning for interment. The funeral will be conducted from the Baptist church this afternoon. Miss Batt was a daughter to Mrs. Statira Batt of Cannelton, who formerly resided in this city. She is survived by her mother, four brothers and one sister, Mrs Harry Morrison of this city.

Miss Batt's Funeral
The funeral of Miss Veva Batt, who died at Cannelton on August 1 of consumption of the bowels, was held from the Baptist church in this city last Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock, Rev. S.O. Christian conducting the services. The remains were brought from Cannelton Wednesday morning. The interment was in the city cemetery.
The following relative and friends from a distance attended the funeral: Mrs. Statira Batt and children, Murray, Chris and Dock Batt, of Cannelton; Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Batt, of Owensboro; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Morton of Glendeane; and Mrs. Gunn and son, William; Misses Lillie and Emma Wagner, Ula Howard, Pearl Zellers, and Messrs. Henry Reotgen, Herman Plock and Wm. Zellers of Cannetlon.
