At the start of World War II she worked in drafting at the Lockheed plant in Burbank where she was assigned to design the hydraulics for the P-38 Lightning landing gear and brakes. This is where she met Fred Poor.

After the war, she and Fred settled in Pasadena and traveled to many places around the world.
