He married Darla Frances Andrews on May 14, 1954 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denzy worked for Occidental Petroleum in Chico, Texas as a Senior Plant Operator and retired and moved back to Jacksboro in 1993. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Jacksboro.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Darla; daughter Danet LaRaye (Leatherwood) Davis, brother Delvin Leatherwood, and sister Nell Griffith.
He is survived by 3 daughters Diann Schooley and husband Lonnie of Cleburne, Texas, Deana Shockley and husband Don of Jacksboro, Texas and Debbi Meador and husband Craig of Jacksboro; 3 brothers H.D. "Sonny" Leatherwood of Springtown, Deuard Leatherwood of Jacksboro and Doy Leatherwood Sr. of Bryson; 3 sisters Eva Tabor, Sarah Turner and Linda Clower all of Jacksboro; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation on Thursday evening from 7-8 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro, Texas.
Services will be held on Friday May 8, 2009 at 2 pm at the Church of Christ in Jacksboro with burial to follow at Dark Corner Cemetery in Jack County, Texas. Mr. Joel Scott will be officiating.
