Karen Sue Conkey Amos, 61, of Claysville, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington, following a four-month courageous fight with endometrial cancer.

She was born July 22, 1952, in Washington, a daughter of Sara Jane Conkey and the late Thomas Arthur Conkey.

Mrs. Amos was a 1970 graduate of McGuffey High School.

Most recently, she was employed with Marketing Support Network in Bridgeville as a data entry operator. In addition, she was a loving caregiver to her mother the past nine years.

Mrs. Amos was a member of West Alexander United Methodist Church and West Alexander Legion Auxiliary Post 656. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her two granddaughters.

She was a kind and caring woman who always put others first, and a wonderful friend to many.

On October 12, 1972, in Winchester, Va., she married Harold "Lee" Amos Jr., who passed away April 11, 2006.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a daughter, Michelle (Harry) Lea Moore; granddaughters Sarah Elizabeth and Emma Leigh Moore of West Alexander; sisters Betty Jane Thompson of Washington and Debra Kay Conklin of Claysville; brother Thomas Arthur Conkey Jr. of Washington; mother-in-law Roberta Amos of West Alexander; companion Doug Wilson of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her father and husband, is a daughter, Brandy Lea Amos.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, 724-663-7373, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 5. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery, Claysville.
