Born August 23, 1931, in Whitney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Asa Robert and Nellie Mae (Reid) Cannon.
A retired lab technician for Pediatric Associates, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, the Hardin-Bethea Sunday School Class, and the Shingler-Burgess Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Boyd Burgess; two daughters, Beth Burgess Drennen and her husband Lowry, and Laurie Burgess Hogshead and her husband Christopher W.two sons, John Reid Burgess and his wife Gina, and Robert Boyd Burgess and his wife Pamela, three sisters, Hilda Gregory and Motty Hunsuck, and Margaret Foster. a brother, Jim Cannon.
Visitation was 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. T. Lee Bryant, Jr. and Rev. Heather Humphries. Burial was in West Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the American Lung Association, 11 Brendan Way, B2, Greenville, SC 29615.
