Beginning her career as a teacher in 1949, she taught in Glen Carbon, Edwardsville and Caseyville. From 1957 and until her retirement in 1981, she held the positions of teacher, supervisor and principal in the Cahokia School District.
She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Belleville and a lifetime member of the SIUC Alumni Association.
