Mrs. Shirley Temple Eiler Jewell, 66, of Frederick, died on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of Charles Henry Jewell, her husband of 42 years.

Born on May 17, 1936, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Newton and Gladys Stoner Eiler.

Mrs. Jewell was a medical secretary with USAMRIID at Fort Detrick. Upon her retirement in 1991, after 31 years of service, she received the Commander's Award from the Department of the Army.

She was a graduate of Thurmont High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s.

She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and dancing.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Xandra Jewell Delawter and husband William of Thurmont; a stepgrandson, William Delawter of Thurmont; six brothers and sisters, Harry Eiler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mary Ellen Miller of Thurmont, Jack Eiler of Emmitsburg, Alice Dolores Kolk of Cocoa, Fla., Margaret Sweeney of Thurmont, and William Edward Eiler and wife Nancy of Bethlehem, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jewell was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Bert Eiler.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Donald Hammond officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, Md. 21784.
