Louise Myers Carter
COLUMBIA - Mrs. Mattie Louise Myers Carter, age 90, died Friday, January 6, 2006, at a Columbia nursing facility after an illness.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2006, in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.
Mrs. Carter was born in Effingham, South Carolina, a daughter of the late James Edward Myers and Mattie Louise Davis Myers. She formerly owned a gift and china shop in Timmonsville. She was a bookkeeper and receptionist for Dr. Kenneth Lawrence, MD, in Florence, and she also worked at the Florence Museum. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Culpepper Carter, Sr.; two sisters, Emma Myers Wiggins and Grace Myers Anderson; and seven brothers, Bill Myers, Leon Myers, Earl Myers, Ralph Myers, Wilmer Myers, Talmadge Myers, and Bryan Myers.
She is survived by a son, Howard "Kip" Culpepper Carter, Jr., and his wife Cynthia of Columbia; a granddaughter, Louise Myers Carter Huebner and her husband John of Piscataway, NJ; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Louise Huebner of Piscataway, NJ; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family request that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Florence.
