Mr. Steve Tannehill, 60, of Hollister died Friday, May 2, 2014 in Cox Medical Center Branson.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 7 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Dale Gurbaugh officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Protem Cemetery, Protem, MO.
Stephen Don Tannehill was born Wednesday, November 25, 1953 in Branson, MO to Harold Don and Patsy Fern (Copelin) Tannehill. He graduated from Southeast Wichita High School in 1971 and attended Friends University in Wichita majoring in music education. While at Friends University, he met Diane Erwin. They were married May 27, 1972 in Wichita. Steve was drafted into the US Army in October 1972. He served during the Vietnam Era . While in the Army he played woodwinds in the Army Band. He was honorably discharged in October 1975 as a Sergeant. He and Diana moved to Ocie, MO where he worked in the family store—Tannehill Feed and Grocery. In 1982 they moved to Bradleyville and Steve attended College of the Ozarks. After two and a half years they moved to Branson where he started playing at the Starlite Theater. During his musical career playing the saxophone, he worked for Shoji Tabuchi, Ray Price and Doug Gabriel. He retired in 2003.
Steve was a very talented musician playing the horns, piano and singing. His witty, outgoing personality, with a great sense of humor, inspired his many listeners. He enjoyed singing with his family in church. His strong faith and family loyalty served as an inspiration to many. During his calm times, he enjoyed eating , fishing, deer hunting, vegetable gardening, watching westerns , M. A. S. H, and listening to Jazz. He was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church of Ozark.
He is survived by his former wife, Diane Tannehill of Branson; son, Jeremy Tannehill and wife, Penny of Ozark; daughter, Tricia Tannehill of Branson West; mother, Patsy Tannehill of Hollister; sister, Denise Walker and husband, Bill of Gainesville; four grandchildren, Sydey, Fisher, Carter and Jackson Tannehill and one nephew, Jared Walker.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Don and two uncles, Ronald Tannehill and Ty Copelin.
