Artist. Creator of "Toucan Sam" icon. After graduating from art school this native of Manhattan, New York worked in advertising from 1954 to 1961, where he is credited with creating the famous toucan used to sell Kellogg's "Froot Loops"cereal. He had a heart for young people so in 1961 he began teaching high school and remained in education for over thirty years. While a teacher, he continued to paint, with many of his works depicting Long Island seascapes, Native American culture or everyday life in his parents native land of Spain. His works have been exhibited around the world. He died at the age of seventy –one of pancreatic cancer.
