POW Civil War, Roswell Women, When Sherman came through Marietta, Georgia he ordered mill workers (they made cloth for Confederate Uniforms) and their children sent north in boxcars as Prisoners of War. They were left in Nashville where Irena and perhaps one child died in 1865 or 1866. Her husband came home from the war to find his family captured and sent north. He walked from Marietta to Nashville to find them. We do not know if his wife and child died before or after he found them.We are told that she and her daughter Leola were buried at the site of the old Vultee Air Base.
