BETTENDORF — L. Imogene Meredith, 71, of Bettendorf died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Services in celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to LeClaire Baptist Church, for the music ministry.

Imogene was born in 1943 in Seymour, Iowa, to Harry and Lenna Belle White. She attended Davenport schools, and graduated with the class of '61 from Central High School. On July 28, 1967, she married Dennis W. Meredith in Hammond, Ind.

As a child, Imogene accepted Christ as her Savior. She loved the Lord with her whole heart and had a desire to see others come to know Him as their personal Savior. Music was a very important part of her life and she sang for WDLM's Youth For Christ Saturday morning programs. In high school, she was in many choirs, including an a capella choir. She also played the piano and organ. She was very involved in the music ministries of all the churches she attended during her lifetime (Grand Avenue Baptist, Grandview Baptist Church, Pleasant View Baptist Church and LeClaire Baptist Church). When she wasn't singing and accompanying herself or an ensemble in which she sang, she accompanied choir, congregational singing, children's programs, special music, and played the organ for weddings and funerals. She had a heart for children and enjoyed working with them in Sunday school, Children's Church, AWANA and Bible School. Imogene was always encouraging young people to develop and continue to use their musical talents to serve the Lord. She was always ready to open her home and heart to her children's friends, classmates and church family.

Before marriage, Imogene worked in various capacities, as a dental assistant and nurse's aide. In reaching out to a neighbor, they took cake decorating classes together, which led to Imogene's cake decorating ministry.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis; children, David Meredith, Jon and Lisa Meredith, Wendi Meredith, Denny and Chantelle Meredith, and Daniel Meredith; grandchildren, Nathan and Gina Meredith, Matt and Erin Meredith, Johanna and Mike Knoot, Tiffany Larson, Ben Meredith, Andrew Meredith, Josh and Hailey Meredith, Rachel Meredith, Ethan Meredith and Parker Meredith; great-grandchildren, Gabbi, Isaac, Jacob, Chloe, Mercedes, Emma and Lily; sister, Donna and Jim Gerboth; brother, Doyle and Nancy White; nieces and nephews, Ronda, Brian, Kevin, Keith, Julie, Roxanne, Jeanette, Robert, Cindy, Kim, and Missy. She was preceded in death by her parents, two nieces and a nephew.
