Excerpted from his obituary in the 10 Jun 1932 Metamora Herald: He died at the state hospital in Bartonville. Born 24 Jan 1888, and spent his entire life in El Paso. He married Sophia Tomashoski [Tomascheski] of Minonk on 19 Nov 1917. Surviving are his mother, Dana Shaffer of Peoria, father George Ahrends of Crescent City, son William, daughter Bernadine,and a sister, Mrs John Rin? of Peoria.
