PORTAGE TOWNSHIP GOSSIP.
Burl Hall, an old resident of Porter County for fifty years, died at Providence, R. I. Thursday, where he went to spend the winter with friends and relatives. He was a widower and lived with H. D. Scofield since his wife died. He had done no work for fifteen years but raise a small garden patch and hunt and trap. He was seventy-six years of age. The remains were brought to Crisman Station Monday. The ceremony was performed at the McCool church Tuesday after which the remains were laid to rest in the McCool cemetery.

LOCAL NEWS OF THE WEEK
Burl Hall, the father-in-law of Mrs. Scofield, of Crisman, died in Boston, Mass., last Thursday night. The remains were brought to Crisman Sunday and laid to rest Monday afternoon. Mr. Hall was known throughout northwestern Indiana, and his death will be generally mourned.

LOCAL NEWS OF THE WEEK
The will of Burill D. Hall of Crisman was probated in the circuit court Wednesday. He bequeathed the undivided one-half of the southwest quarter of section 1, township 36, range 7, to Emily Hughart. Balance willed to Hubert D. Scofield of Crisman and Susan J. Brown of Coventry, Rhode Island. H. D. Scofield was named as executor of will annexed.
