Krista was a terrific person who was loved by those who knew her. She is missed every day and loved every minute.

Krista had overcome a lifetime of physical and emotional struggles in her short years. She'd made great strides and did her best to live life to the fullest and embrace every moment. Her family and friends are incredibly proud of her achievements and even prouder to have known and loved her.

Krista was such an amazing person. Her quirky and absolutely hilarious sense of humor combined with an infectious laugh made her absolutely unforgettable. It was almost impossible to not have fun when she was with you.

Krista was a senior at Gillespie High School, and would have graduated in 2002. She planned to go on to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

On December 8, 2001, Krista was visiting family in Kentucky for the holidays. While driving her grandmother to a hotel, the car Krista was driving was hit by a tow-truck. She and her grandmother died in the accident.

She is survived by her mother, father, two sisters, a brother, a brother-in-law, and countless friends. After her death, she became an aunt.

Krista's headstone is etched with the image of Krista sitting on her bed and talking on the phone. Her room shows her ecclectic mix of interests (especially Pez dispensers, Pokemon, and Strawberry Shortcake). To the sides of the main image are symbols for things important to her- a cross for her faith, a cat for her beloved cat Clawdia (who passed away just a month or two before Krista did), a quill pen for her love of writing, and a Subway restaurant visor to commemorate the job of "Sandwich Artist" at a local Subway. More photos of Krista can be seen by clicking here.

As a lasting tribute, at least two babies have been named after her. Her sister and brother-in-law named their son Kameron (taken from her first initial "K" and her middle name "Marinne"). A friend gave her daughter the middle name of "Marinne". In addition to these namesakes, Krista is the inspiration for countless tattoos proudly worn in her honor.

We love and miss you Krista!
