In April 1918 Harrison was called up for the draft but after five months he was declared mentally unstable and given an honorable discharge. (Thus his grave has a military marker.) The struggle with Chandler law enforcement officers described in the posted news clip suggests he wanted to stay in the Army. The back of his draft registration card says, "Feeble minded has been in the asylum" and is signed by W. P. Goble, June 5, 1917.
