Born in Franklin County, Alabama, December 16, 1962, he was a son of Rose Nell Flanagan of Lynchburg and the late John William Brooks.
Jim was ordained in the Missionary Baptist faith in 1999 and he was a foundational member of Seven Hills Christian Ministries. He loved music and played in worship and evangelistic bands for many years. He was also an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one sister, Lura Jones of Mobile, AL; three brothers, Lester Fields of Town Creek, AL, Tommy Brooks of Casper, WY and Buddy Brooks of Amherst and a number of nieces and nephews. Jim will also be greatly missed by his beloved dogs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A service celebrating Jim's life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday April 15, 2014 at Oasis Church in Monroe with Dr. George "Bubba" Rose officiating.
Interment will be in Allwood Cemetery on Wednesday.
