J. R. Abernathy, 86, a retired carpenter of Homer vicinity, passed away Thursday noon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Orville Graham, in Knightstown. He had made his home with his daughter for the past year.
Mr. Abernathy resided in Rushvllle during his early life but went to the Homer community where he was well known. His wife preceded him in death several years ago.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Graham at whose home he died, Mrs. Ruth Clark of near Knightstown, Mrs. Katie Walker and Mrs. Edith Clevenger of this city; two brothers, James of Pierce City, Mo., and John N. of Oklahoma City; eleven grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge church where funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. Merritt Machlan of this city. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Graham home any time. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
