George Alexander Warren Fleming was born in Wayne, Kentucky, the first of nine children born to Warren Simpson Fleming and Sarah Sallie Dunnagen Fleming.

The family eventually left Kentucky for Oklahoma Territory, where they homesteaded near Hobart. By 1900, Warren had graduated college and was employed as a teacher in Montague, Texas. By the time the WWI draft came around, Warren had settled into family life in Oklahoma, after marrying Louise and having their first child, daughter Alline. In about 1919 Warren and Louise made Alline a big sister with the addition of twin boys, Warren and Wayne, to the family.

From 1920 until his death in 1959, Warren worked in finance and insurance, in the farm loan and abstract business of the time.
