Jennie Eleanor Giardini

Born: Oct. 26, 1916
Died: Oct. 10, 2011

ST. CHARLES - Jennie Eleanor Giardini, age 94, of St. Charles and formerly of Des Plaines, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Batavia Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Chicago, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Zajac) Pieniazek.

As a young girl, she worked at Bunte Candy Co. in Chicago and cut dress patterns at Tabin & Picker. She married Paul Giardini in 1939, and they were married for 60 years, until his death in November 1999. They made their home in Des Plaines for 45 years, raising their two children. Mrs. Giardini was an excellent homemaker and baker, as well as being a talented piano player who loved to play Strauss waltzes. Her husband,Paul, would sometimes accompany her with his violin and they would entertain family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Anaterese (Dario) Pierotti of Elburn and Janet (Geoff) Check of Tennessee; three grandchildren, John (Renee) Pierotti, Gina (Troy) Wormley and Alex Check; great-grandsons Brock and Bryce Wormley; and great-granddaughter Ava Pierotti.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Henry, Edwin and Chester Pieniazek.

Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Route 38), Geneva, proceeding to St. Gall Catholic Church, 120 W. Shannon St., Elburn for celebration of funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with Father Karl Ganss celebrant.

Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Malone Funeral Home in Geneva.

Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association , 4709 Golf Road, Skokie, IL 60076, would be appreciated.
