Prior to moving to Rockport in June 2004, Ruby had been a resident of Denver CO, Wichita KS and Grove OK. She was a retired school guidance counselor, life member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the United Methodist Church, Grove. OK. Ruby was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota National Teachers Sorority and served as Kansas President from 1972-1973. Her parents, Charles and Mary Johnson and her husband, James William Smalley preceded Ruby in death.
