Survivor of the 1846-47 Donner Party tragedy. She was first married to Edward Gant Pyle on May 16, 1847. He was murdered in 1848. Her second marriage on July 5, 1851 was to James Thomas Clarke. They had seven children:

Mary Isabelle Clarke (1860-1871)
William Lewis Clarke (1862-unk)
Alexander Russell Clarke (1865-1891)

Mary Anna was the daughter of Franklin Ward and Elizabeth Cooper Graves. Mr. Graves died when a group of survivors attempted to reach California for help. Her mother and brother Franklin Jr. died while being rescued by the second relief party. Another brother and a sister, Jonathan and Elizabeth, survived the ordeal, but both died around March of 1847.

Siblings that survived were William C. Graves, Eleanor Graves who married William McDonnell, Lovina Graves who married John Cyrus and Nancy Graves who married Rev. R.W. Williamson. Her sister, Sarah Graves Fosdick also survived, though her young husband Jay Fosdick did not.
