Maggie Aldridge was born between May 8, 1902 in Missouri. It is unknown at this time, who might have been her father as she was orphaned by the age of 8. She is found in the home of Henry Richard Bankston and his wife, Mabel Annis Robertson Bankston, in the 1910 Dunklin County, Missouri Census Records. Her brother, Thomas Aldrige age 12, also an orphan, was listed in the 1910 census record of Dunklin County residing with Augustus Luther and his wife, Mary Caroline Robertson Luther. Mabel Annis and Mary Caroline were sisters and, therefore, they took in both children.

I do not know if Maggie was ever legally adopted by the Bankston family, but she remained with them until her adulthood. It is unknown what happened to her brother, Thomas, as I have been unable to locate him in further census records.

My grandfather, William Burhl Robertson was the brother of Mabel Annis and Mary Caroline mentioned above. In fact, he and Mary Caroline Robertson Luther were twins. My grandfather married, Jim Bob Everett. Jim Bob Everett Robertson lived to be 102 years old. In her 100th year, she dictated a story of her life. She spoke fondly of Maggie in this story, "Henry had been married to Burhl's oldest sister, Mabel, who died in 1922. Henry moved to Truman, Arkansas. They had an adopted daughter, Maggie Aldridge. She and I were very close and loved each other like sisters. We always had fun there. We lived all together, Maggie, Henry the father, three boys, and me and my four kids....Maggie married my oldest brother Ben. Now were were sister-in-laws. Now everything is always fun and good times!"

Again, it's a small world when it comes to genealogy, because it was my great aunts on my grandfather's side that adopted the Aldrich children, and Maggie Aldridge married the brother of my grandmother, Ben McDonald Everett Jr. in about 1925. Maggie and Ben had two four children: two girls, Nahoma "Sally" D. Everett and Betty Everett, and two sons: Robert E. Everett and Benjamin McDonald "Donald" Everett. The 1930 Shelby County, Tennessee census records shows Ben, Maggie, and children residing in Memphis, Tennessee.

Ben Everett died on February 8, 1965 in Memphis. I recently discovered an obituary for Maggie Everett that states:

Mrs. Everett, a widow, leaves two daughters, Mrs. Sally Jarrett of Sage, Ark., and Mrs. Betty Whitaker of Riverside, Calif.; two sons, Robert Everett of Memphis and Benjamin M. Everett Jr., of Bartlett; 11 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.
