Henry was the son of Rueben G. Ball and Caroline McCrady-Ball.

Ball, H.P., Pvt. Co G 3rd Regt. 1st Brig. Inf. Died of disease at home Aug. 24, 1861. Son of Reubin G. Ball.

"Henry P. Ball, 19 years old of the Laurens Briars, 3rd Regiment South Carolina, died of disease at the home of his father near Pleasant Mound in Laurens District on Saturday, August 21, 1861."
