Death of Mrs. Joseph Brake
Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Brake, formerly Helen Kale of Winterset, were held here last Saturday at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home. Mrs. Brake died at her home in Dubuque on October 10th.
Mrs. Brake was born in Winterset on April 23, 1897, the daughter of John and Nellie Kale. In girlhood she joined the Winterset Baptist church. On June 1, 1922, she was married to Joseph Brake, and they moved to Dubuque, where they have since lived. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brake were blind.
The deceased was brought here last week for the funeral and burial. The Rev. Fred Madson was in charge of the services on Saturday. Services had been held in Dubuque on the previous day. She is survived by her husband and one child, Lorna Ruth, age 9. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. John Kale, and a sister, Mrs. C. A. Hense of Racine, Wisconsin.
