In most records the name is spelled Dayton.
The headstones in the cemetery have Daton.
Not sure if this was in error or the way they spelled it as it is spelled that way on his wifes', his son Thomas, daughter Parthena and also on his granddaughter in law, Gratia (Tuttle) Daton in West Sandgate Cemetery.
