Jean Bishop Cochran, 75, of Bishop Rd. Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully at home following a long illness on Thursday, April 11, 2013.Mrs. Cochran was born, July 22, 1937 in Cartersville, a daughter of the late Kenneth Floyd Bishop and Martha Richards Bishop.Mrs. Cochran was a long time secretary for the Bartow Board of Education. She loved her community and was very active in many events around town. She was a member of the Bartow Genealogy Society. She was an avid listener of WBHF Radio and called in frequently to talk to the DJ's about sports and other current events. She was a homemaker and greatly enjoyed spending her spare time gardening, crocheting and sewing. She was an active member of Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian church.Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Dee Cochran; and sisters-in-laws, Opal Sutton and Mary Jane Richards.Survivors include her daughters Elaine Richards of Cartersville and Sandra Dee Smith of Marietta; grandchildren, Zachary Richards of Cartersville, Austin Richards of Lincoln, NE, and Aaron, Adam and Arden Smith all of Marietta, GA; step granddaughter, Tiffany Richards of Cartersville; brother and sister in-law, Thomas Floyd and Pat Bishop of Cartersville; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Shirley and Ronald Kennedy of Cartersville and Faye Bishop and Robert Sewell of Cumming; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Betty and Duane Gray of White and Elsie and Earl Mansfield of Cartersville; brother-in-law, Alvin Richards of White; sons-in-laws, Keith Smith and Dane Richards; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 14, 2013 from the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Harris officiating.
