James Shannon Mize, age 44, of Duncanville, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at home. After cremation, a private memorial will be held.
James had a love for life and especially enjoyed NASCAR racing and Auburn football. He loved sharing his witty Ponderosa Bar & Grill receipts on Facebook. Now, he's cooking and grilling and serving up "Cope" specials with the angels. He leaves a void that will be left unfilled until we all meet again. James lost his parents, John Sam and Gertrude Mize, at a very early age, but he endured the cards dealt him and played out his hand well. He never met a stranger and was fondly known as "Maddog" and "Cowboy Cope." James leaves a son, James William Mize of Lombard, Ill. He is also survived by his brothers, John Mize (Ann) and Joe Mize (Martha), and his sisters, Frances Skelton (Ken) and Diane Reynolds. He had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews along with his many Facebook friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one's favorite charity in James' name.
