Folk Figure. Ruth Dodge was the wife of General Grenville Dodge, the Chief Engineer and Surveyor of the Union Pacific Railroad in its infancy, and a major figure in Omaha/Council Bluffs history. She is best known for the memorial sculpture of her in Council Bluff's Fairview Cemetery. It was created in 1917 by Daniel Chester French, who was responsible for famous statue of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.
