INDIANAPOLIS — Dora Dean Carmin, 82, beloved wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and sister, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Dora was born on Aug. 8, 1931 in Hartford City, to the late Chester and Alta (Tippey) Nelson. Dora is a 1952 graduate of Ball State University with a degree in nursing. She married her love Roy P. Carmin on Oct. 26, 1952.

DD was a registered nurse for 25 years. She loved to quilt, crochet, sew, and knit and has many blankets to prove such. As Roy tended to outside garden duties, DD tended to inside duties of canning and freezing. She remained active in church as well as the Eastern Star, Upland Chapter #411.

DD is survived by her loving husband Roy of more than 60 years; their children: Steve Carmin, Mike (Lisa) Carmin, and Tammy (Jerry) Poland; grandchildren: Nathan Carmin, (step) David Hagar, (step) Jean Boggs, Kristen Shelley, Jennifer Carmin, Lauren Carmin, Andrew Carmin, Katy Lobley, and Karry Ricketts; step-great-grandchildren: Kathleen Hagar, Victor Hagar, Vida Hagar, and Roslyn Boggs; great-grandchildren: Addison McClanahan, Vivian Lobley, Kinley Ricketts, and Colton Ricketts; sisters: Donna Florea, Norma Gillespie, and Dorothy Frazier; and sisters-in-law: Donna Wanner and Norma Jean Nelson.

DD was preceded in death by her parents; son Mark Carmin; two brothers; and one sister.


Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, has been entrusted with arrangements. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Keystone Christian Church, 2525 E. 56th St., Indianapolis. The funeral service will start at 11 a.m. with Minister Bill Rector officiating.
Family and friends are also encouraged to gather for a graveside service in Matthews at 2:30 p.m.
