BLACKVILLE — George K. Fickling Sr., 65, died Thursday in the Baptist Hospital in Columbia. He was a son of the late Eugene E. and Mackie Kirkland Fickling. He was a retired railroad employe and service station operator. In previous years he had served Blackville as mayor, fire chief, magistrate and had served for 27 years as a school trustee.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Storne Fickling; five daughters; Mrs. Glenn Partain of Braytown, Texas, Mrs. Frampton Beasley of Barnwell, Mrs. Lowell Jowers of Cocoa, Fla., Mrs. Gary Pitts of West Columbia and Miss Jeannie Fickling of Blackville; one son, George K. Fickling Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Harry Blume of El Centro, Calif.; four brothers, Edgar of Ridgeland, Lenwood of North Charleston, Lawson and Eugene Fickling of Blackville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at graveside in the Blackville Cemetery.
