Charles Chaves, 89, went home to be with The Lord February 24th 2014.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Betty Pino Chaves. He is survived by 4 children Jim Chaves McCabe, Sylvia Boyd, Loretta Witek and Casey Chaves. Also, Sister,Becky Easton and Brother John Chaves : sister- in -laws Glorial, Barbara Archuletta, Juanita Lopez; 10 grand children and 14 great grand children; numerous friends and relatives as well.
Charles was a WWII veteran wounded Christmas Eve 1944 at the Battle of the Bulge. He received 2 Purple Hearts, as well as the medal of good conduct, honor, courage and service, he received many commendations.
Later Charles enjoyed teaching carving at Barnum recreation center, Clements center and Wood chucks. He was always grateful to The Lord Jesus for the precious gift of family, friends and the joy of bringing a smile to everyone he would meet.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Honor hospice, care of Physicians Honor foundation, 10900 w. 44th ave Wheat Ridge, 80033.
Visitation and Rosary: Monday, March 3rd at 7:00 pm, at the Archdiocese of Denver.
Funeral Mass on March 4th at 9:00 am at The Archdiocese of Denver , Burial service at 10:15 a.m. Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Reception to follow at Barnum Rec center 310 Hazel Ct. 80204 .
